Registration
Important information
Cancellation: the conference fee will be totally refunded if you unregister before the 20th of March. Passed this date, a refund can only happen provided that a new person can be found to replace you.
The conference organisers cannot accept any liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage to property belonging to conference participants (or their accompanying persons), either during, or as a result of, the congress. Registration or accommodation fees do not include insurance.
Conference scope
The conference is aimed at PhD students, as well as master students and early post-docs from experimental or theoretical domains of atomic physics and optics. Among the topics of last year conference: quantum optics, cold atoms, quantum control and metrology, etc. To keep a lively atmosphere throughout the week, the conference is limited to 95 participants.
Registration is now closed. All applicants must have received an answer at the end of February, with further details about payment and grant application if accepted.
Conference fee
The conference fee of 250 CHF (about 235 € or £180 as of February 2014) covers accommodation from Sunday 19 to Friday 24 April 2015, and includes breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks and the conference dinner.
If you do not require accommodation, please contact explicitly the organisers. The fee is then reduced to 100 CHF. For your information, the cheapest alternative option for housing -- namely, in a youth hostel -- costs about 215 CHF for 5 nights, so keep in mind that the conference accommodation is a fairly good deal.
Abstract submission
In the past editions of the YAO conference, the number of applications for a talk quite often exceeded the number of available slots, so please be aware that you might be asked to switch from a talk to a poster presentation if your abstract is accepted. You are also strongly encouraged to include a figure that illustrates your work and helps understand it.
Scholarships
A few scholarships are available, covering travel costs and conference fee. In addition to the standard application process, applicants should send a motivation letter (one A4 page) and a recommendation letter from their supervisor. Grant application is not possible anymore.
